The Leys School

The Leys

In memory of Carl George

In memory of Carl George who tragically passed to vascular EDS on 10th March 2017. Carl was a much loved pupil at The Leys School in Cambridge and an avid member of The Leys CCF.

The Leys are very supportive of Annabelle's Challenge to which we are extremely grateful. Donations in Carl's memory continue to directly benefit families touched by vascular EDS including the first ever family retreat weekend in Blackpool attended by 30 families.
PARAS'10
On Sunday 21th May 2017 a group of 6 students and 3 staff from The Leys CCF took part in the PARAS’10 event held by The Parachute Regiment of the British Army at Colchester barracks. This group of nine took on the challenge for Annabelle’s Challenge.

We tragically lost Carl George, an Old Fidelian and an avid member of the CCF, to this condition, and The Leys CCF are completing the Paras’ 10 in commemoration of him.

The PARAS’10 is a 10 mile endurance race based on The Parachute Regiment’s 10 miler selection at the end of training. The 10-mile march is the first event and is conducted over undulating terrain with each man carrying a Bergen weighing 35lbs plus water and a weapon.

The march must be completed in 1 hour 50 minutes and it is this event that forms the basis of the PARAS’10.

Jaya C (Old Fidelian), Lizzie, Bryony, Freddie, Jonnie and Mr Springall will be completing the ‘light order’ run version of the event, and Dan H (Old Fidelian), Mr McAlinden and Mr Fawcett will be running in boots and carrying 35 lbs for the full ‘P Company’ experience.
Gold DofE Expedition
Riccardo and the team headed off from Cambridge on Thursday 22nd March 2018 on the Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition wearing Annabelle's Challenge shirts to help raise awareness of vascular EDS in Carl's memory.

"Setting off for our Gold DofE expedition hoping to raise awareness for Annabelle’s Challenge which aims to help those affected by Vascular EDS as well as their families. Met some walkers in the village of Buckden and they were kind enough to take a picture with us in support of Annabelle’s Challenge".
